fix iATKOS display problem
- DON’T STEAL SOFTWARE -
call me haxx0r.. no wait, call me ultrahaxx0r. i fixed it. i am the first to solve the iatkos display problem. before this, you weren’t able to use a dual-monitor setup without having to reboot or go to sleep and replug your secondary monitor. but now you can. this little fix even allows you to show the display-icon in the menu bar, which also wasn’t possible.
here’s the trick: i updated a panel plugin in the system/library folder, which in the original iatkos version seems to be crippled – why? i don’t know. do the following:
STEP0
close your system preferences
STEP1
go to ‘yourstartupdrive/system/library/monitorpanels/’ where you’ll find a few *.monitoriPanel files. move ‘display.monitorPanel’ to a save folder and keep it as a backup.
STEP2
get this original ‘display.monitorPanel’ which is actually from my 10.5 system (or any other original file from a friend’s mac) and move it to ‘yourstartupdrive/system/library/monitorpanels/’ and choose to overwrite the iatkos version.
and that’s about it
STEP3
open up your preferences and go to displays. there you have it: now you have access to the ‘detect displays’ and ‘show displays in menu bar’, that where gone before.
enjoy!
